House Democrats passed the big health care bill in part because of the "aye" votes from 20 Democrats who represent districts that backed John McCain over Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential election.
All but three are seeking re-election this year -- Reps. Bart Gordon (Tenn.) and Vic Snyder (Ark.) are retiring and Rep. Brad Ellsworth (Ind.) is running for the Senate.
Six of the 20 are serving their first terms: John Boccieri (Ohio); Kathy Dahlkemper (Pa.); Ann Kirkpatrick (Ariz.); Suzanne M. Kosmas (Fla.); Betsy Markey (Colo.); and Tom Perriello (Va.).
Perriello and Markey are in contests that CQ Politics presently rate as tossup
